Egyptians have every right to be proud of their country, which is home to one of the world’s oldest civilizations and a number of tourist sites that date back thousands of years. People come from all over the world to see the pyramids of Giza, the ruins of ancient temples, and the beautiful coastline of Egypt.
Sandboarding, snorkeling, and deep-sea diving are just a few of the amazing things you can do here. It has everything you could need for the holidays and New Year’s Eve, so it’s the perfect place to celebrate.
Even though Christmas and New Year’s Eve are the most popular holidays in Egypt, the entire winter season is full of magic and wonder. Now is the best time to go to Egypt because the weather is nice and there is a lot of sunlight. Egypt celebrates Christmas on January 7 instead of December 25 like most of the rest of the world. On the other hand, the celebration on December 25 is very big and a lot of people go.
On New Year’s Eve, residents will have a big party and put on a spectacular fireworks show until midnight.
Below, we’ll talk about some of the things that could be done in Egypt for Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
Don’t miss the Pyramids!
Those who get to spend Christmas or New Year’s Day at the Pyramids of Giza will have a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Enjoy being amazed by the huge tombs of Egypt’s pharaohs and the mysterious architecture that holds them.
What else, too? You will also have the chance to learn about the past. More so, you will have a whole new Christmas experience when you walk through the tight hallways and look at the perfect geometry.
Get thrills in the desert in Egypt
Those who spend the holidays in the desert will find a beauty that is hard to describe. You don’t have to have a white Christmas in the snow. Instead, you could have a beach Christmas, a golden Christmas, or a warm white Christmas.
So, why do you still look like you’re not sure? Book a trip to Egypt over the holidays for a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will leave you feeling refreshed and ready to take on the new year.
Sail aboard a beautiful Nile Cruise
During the holidays, the weather, the busy streets, and the exciting events along the Nile will all be at their best, making it the perfect time to take a magnificent Nile Cruise between Aswan and Luxor.
Fly through the air this new year
I can’t think of a better way to start the new year than by partying high up on a mountaintop in Egypt, where you can enjoy peace and beauty. Make sure you get up early so you don’t miss the beautiful sunrise that will leave you gasping for air.
What else, too? If you look at how beautiful the view is from above the Valley of the Kings, you can see why hot air balloon rides over Luxor, Egypt, are so popular.
You can have a good start to the new year by getting away from the crowds and spending quality time with the people you care about while enjoying attractions like ancient Egyptian temples and artefacts, the magnificent cemetery of the pharaohs, and a lovely view of the Nile with the rural scenery.
Enjoy the turquoise water by the Red Sea
You can spend a few days of summer over the Christmas break if you want to go to Sharm El-Sheikh or Hurghada and enjoy the Red Sea, which has a lot of exciting diving opportunities.

Discover Coptic Christianity in Egypt
An important aspect of any traditional Christmas celebration is attending church and participating in the holiday service. As you wander the streets of Egypt, you will discover some of the most amazing and ancient churches in the world. The Church of the Virgin Mary (also known as the Hanging Church), St. George’s Church, and the Coptic Orthodox Church will amaze you with their grandiose architecture and lavish interiors.
Egyptians celebrate Christmas on the 7th of January, but on the 25th of December, churches are beautifully decorated with ornate Christmas trees, colorful ribbons, wreaths, and wonderful manger scenes. After fleeing Jerusalem, Jesus is said to have traveled to Egypt.
The best part, however, is that the festive spirit doesn’t end on New Year’s Day, but rather lasts for an entire week, until January 7th. This is because Christians in Egypt embrace the Coptic Christmas tradition.
